Over time, the level of collagen and hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases, leading to a loss of elasticity.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the active load on the facial muscles when expressing various emotions, so-called <em>mimic wrinkles<\/em> appear:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>horizontal lines on the forehead that occur when raising the eyebrows, usually in surprise or indignation;<\/li>\n<li>glabellar lines that form when frowning;<\/li>\n<li>fine lines around the eyes that appear when smiling;<\/li>\n<li>wrinkles on the bridge of the nose when expressing dissatisfaction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Botulinum therapy or injections of Botox, Dysport<\/strong> have been leading cosmetic procedures for over 20 years, effectively correcting mimic wrinkles. Botox and Dysport are muscle relaxants based on botulinum toxin type A, produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, the causative agent of botulism. Due to the minimal concentration of toxin in these preparations, they are used safely in neurology and cosmetic practice to treat blepharospasm, migraines, strabismus, hemifacial spasm, and to correct mimic wrinkles. The concentration of botulinum toxin is so low that there is no risk of contracting botulism.<\/p>\n<div class=\"tosh-h3\">Mechanism of Action of Botulinum Toxin<\/div>\n<p>A preliminary stage of this procedure is marking \u2013 determining the points of greatest tension in the respective muscles by the doctor. Botox or Dysport is administered using an insulin syringe with a non-removable needle directly into the muscle that needs to be relaxed.<\/p>\n<p>The action of botulinum neurotoxin involves so-called muscle relaxation or temporary reduction of receptor activity in muscle tissues. It blocks the production of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is responsible for transmitting signals from nerve endings to muscle fibers. As a result of this effect, hyperactive muscles are significantly relaxed, and, consequently, the skin smooths out in the area of the drug injection. Both the finest and most persistent wrinkles can be corrected.<\/p>\n<p>Botulinum toxin has a certain diffusion, covering an area of about 1 cm<sup>2<\/sup> around the injection point. Therefore, when injected, it does not enter the circulatory system and does not adversely affect the body. Botulinum toxin only blocks tense muscles involved in forming wrinkles and folds on the skin&#8217;s surface.<\/p>\n<p>There is also no possibility of muscle atrophy even with regular injections of botulinum muscle relaxants, as the blood supply to muscle fibers is not interrupted.<\/p>\n<div class=\"tosh-h3\">Differences Between Botox and Dysport<\/div>\n<div class=\"image_frame image_item no_link scale-with-grid alignright has_border\">\n<div class=\"image_wrapper\"><img class=\"scale-with-grid\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/botox222.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Both drugs are registered brands of muscle relaxants based on botulinum toxin with the same indications for use. Dysport and Botox are officially registered in Ukraine. The difference between them lies in the manufacturer. Botox is produced by Allergan (USA), and Dysport by Ipsen (France). The drugs also differ in dosage. To achieve the desired result, more Dysport is needed than Botox. However, it should be understood that this difference only concerns dosage, not effectiveness, and is only significant for the doctor performing the procedure.<\/p>\n<div class=\"tosh-h3\">Effects of Botulinum Therapy<\/div>\n<p>Using botulinum toxins in cosmetology does not require hospital conditions. The procedure is quick and very well tolerated by patients. For people with a low pain threshold, an application anesthetic can be used in the puncture area.<\/p>\n<p>Wrinkle removal with Botox or Dysport injections takes just over 40 minutes, including consultation. The procedure itself lasts 10-15 minutes. Muscle activity blockage is noticeable literally the next day after drug administration, but the final result appears only after 14 days. In some cases, additional correction is needed, performed no earlier than 2 weeks after the main procedure! The effect of botulinum therapy lasts from 3 to 8 months, depending on the individual characteristics of the body and adherence to the doctor&#8217;s recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to remember that only a doctor calculates the required amount of drug for wrinkle correction, based on their experience with such procedures after an in-person examination of the patient. The amount of drug is calculated individually, considering the person&#8217;s muscle and skin characteristics. A consultation in our center is free of charge.<\/p>\n<p>Important to know! In rare cases, patients have both primary (congenital) and secondary (acquired) resistance (tolerance) of the body to botulinum toxin used in standard doses for wrinkle correction.<\/p>\n<div class=\"tosh-h3\">Areas for Correction with Botox or Dysport<\/div>\n<p>In cosmetic practice, using Botox and Dysport allows for the correction of the following defects:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>horizontal wrinkles in the forehead area;<\/li>\n<li>glabellar lines;<\/li>\n<li>mimic wrinkles around the eyes;<\/li>\n<li>wrinkles on the bridge of the nose;<\/li>\n<li>drooping outer corners of the eyebrows;<\/li>\n<li>tense chin muscles;<\/li>\n<li>gummy smile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"image_frame image_item no_link scale-with-grid alignright has_border\">\n<div class=\"image_wrapper\"><img class=\"scale-with-grid\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/km2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tosh-h3\">Contraindications for Botulinum Therapy<\/div>\n<p>Patients are advised to postpone or refuse such a procedure if any of the following conditions are present:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>pregnancy or breastfeeding;<\/li>\n<li>presence of malignant formations in the body;<\/li>\n<li>history of individual intolerance reactions to botulinum toxin;<\/li>\n<li>presence of neuromuscular pathologies;<\/li>\n<li>inflammatory processes in the Botox or Dysport injection area;<\/li>\n<li>nervous system diseases;<\/li>\n<li>hemophilia;<\/li>\n<li>period of taking antibiotics or anticoagulants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"tosh-h3\">Possible Side Reactions of the Body to Botox and Dysport Injections<\/div>\n<p>Botulinum therapy most often does not cause unwanted side effects.
